Printing Accuracy

 

In a SMT process, 70% of the quality depends on printing accuracy whereas the specifications of printer parameter, stencil and solder paste are bonded with the quality. The latest screen printer has function of controlling for those factors abovementioned, however the price is quite high and the question is, would it really effective?

 

For production lines in Japan, this may not be an issue. Compare to production lines of other countries, this issue has been existed. I think, it is because there is a difference of the consciousness level to the “Quality” of an operator. The basis of the printing press is the maintenance of accuracy (cleaning), that’s what we called as “Frontline Maintenance”. An overall quality of SMT will be affected by just depending on a few micron differences especially for the high density and fine chip assembly. A tiny or residue of paste will deteriorates the printing accuracy. For instance, you would just need to take a light glance of customers’ screen printer; you will definitely know instantly whether the QC is strict or incautious. 

 

Some of the SMT customers perform well in printing 0603 by using an economical printer. From this, we are able to encounter easily that is the cleaning or maintenance on screen printer strictly carried out. Most of the time, people will overlook this basic sense of rule.

 

In a nutshell, training provided to operators or technicians is very important and must be carried out strictly as it is a starting point to instill and cultivate their mind-set correctly and the importance about the basic steps.
